Ms. Heather Louise Madsen, PhD, is a sustainability expert at Danish Energy Management (DEM), working with sustainability in both Denmark and the US. Ms. Madsen began working with Sustainability in 2007 with the Danish insulin company Novo Nordisk, mapping drivers, obstacles and critical success factors of Corporate Social Responsibility. This was followed by working with several organizations in Denmark, helping them to develop sustainability and innovation strategies. Holding a PhD in knowledge and Innovation management, Ms. Madsen was hired into DEM in January 2016 to develop a range of tools related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are now used actively in the company to measure sustainable impact across all projects. Ms. Madsen offers lectures and workshops on incorporating the SDGs into organizational strategy and university curricula development, as well as developing sustainability services that are marketed internationally.
