Douglas Falkenburg founded Ely Beach Solar in 2010, offering commercial turnkey solar thermal systems with internet-based controls, monitoring and maintenance. Ely Beach’s approach focuses on precision-tuning of commercial solar hot water systems to achieve unprecedented efficiencies. Economies in heat production and capital expenditure are achieved through a standardized and optimized design and careful site selection. Target market areas include multi-unit residential, nursing homes, hospitals, hotels, car washes, laundromats, and correctional facilities in urban environments. Oil-burning displacement is a major part of the value-added proposition. Mr. Falkenburg is NABCEP and SunMaxx certified.
In 1979 Douglas Falkenburg founded IMTI Systems, serving the commercial insurance community in software development and automation. In 1985 he developed the world's first loss control automation system and in 1997 the world's first web-based insurance system.
Mr. Falkenburg also developed in 1983 the world's first automated foreign-exchange arbitrage system.
Prior to founding IMTI Systems, Mr. Falkenburg worked as a management consultant manager for the firm of Deloitte & Touche and as Technology Manager for Phelps Dodge where he obtained four patents in process control equipment. He has two Bachelors of Science: one in Electrical Engineering and the other in Biology from M.I.T. His M.B.A. in finance is from Columbia University.
