Lighting Auditor and Retrofit Manager

Based at our Midtown Manhattan office, the Lighting Auditor and Retrofit Manager (Lighting Project Manager) develops and oversees building-wide lighting upgrade projects. Working with EN-POWER GROUP’s small and growing lighting team, s/he conducts detailed onsite lighting audits, identifies and specifies lighting and controls upgrades, and manages all managerial and technical aspects of the project. S/he proactively manages multiple projects simultaneously, often with unexpected challenges and shifting priorities. S/he plays a central role in shaping company-wide lighting recommendations and standard practices.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Manage all aspects of turnkey lighting retrofit projects for existing medium to large multifamily and commercial buildings (50,000 sqft or greater) throughout NYC and surrounding areas with the goal of realizing deep energy reductions, improving occupant comfort and safety, and enhancing aesthetics
  • Conduct initial lighting audit and site assessments throughout front and back of house areas to develop a comprehensive lighting inventory
  • Develop project design and generate proposals for clients by evaluating equipment selection and conducting feasibility, energy savings, and cost-benefit financial analyses
  • Manage client engagement, product purchasing, budgeting, installation, logistics, and rebate facilitation for approved projects
  • Manage periodic technical and non-technical challenges that arise throughout the course of a project
  • Communicate and coordinate regularly with all stakeholders including but not limited to property managers, building owners, building engineers and staff, subcontractors, manufacturers, and vendors
  • Perform other duties as required

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Job Requirements:

  • Knowledge and/or interest in lighting technology, systems, and incentive programs preferred
  • Previous project management experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, preferably in engineering, science, or related field
  • Understanding of basic energy concepts and calculations
  • Interest in problem-solving in relation to process and projects
  • Strong proficiency in Excel with demonstrated ability to work with data and calculations
  • Strong writing skills, including the ability to convey complex topics clearly and succinctly to people with widely varying degrees of technological knowledge and backgrounds
  • Certified as OSHA-10 prior to or within 6 months of employment
  • Possess ability to perform physical tasks including but not limited to: Standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods of time, reading and recording information on handwritten forms and computer screens, using hand tools (such as powered tools, measuring devices, etc.), lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds, navigating in small/enclosed places, climbing stairs and ladders, and working in loud, warm and cold environments
  • Travel primarily within New York City and surrounding areas
