The Department of Sustainable Product Design and Architecture (SPDA) at Keene State College invites applications for a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in the Architecture Program beginning August 2021 to teach courses in building science, high performance building systems, sustainable architectural design, and commercial construction. Course formats include classroom teaching, lectures, and laboratories, and working with students on applied research projects.

The Architecture Program offers a four-year Bachelor of Science in Architecture with approximately 135 students, which is housed in the Technology Design and Safety Center, a LEED Platinum building, constructed in 2012. The facility includes architectural studio space, a building science laboratory, wood and metal labs that also serve closely associated programs in Sustainable Product Design and Innovation, Safety and Occupational Health, including its Construction Safety Management, and a Construction Management major. Altogether, the five majors account for approximately 550 students. The Architecture Program has a solid commitment to engaging students in real-world projects as undergraduates and highly values undergraduate hands-on and digital research. Students work on community-based design and analysis projects for non-profits in the local region and for developing countries. The program promotes sustainable design in all aspects of the curriculum.

Teaching load is twelve credits, typically three 4 credit courses, per academic semester. Teaching responsibilities will focus primarily on building science. The successful candidate will take an active role in integrating sustainable design in all aspects of the curriculum. Additional responsibilities include participating in departmental activities including advising, serving on campus-wide committees, and maintaining an active record of scholarship and professional development. As part of their regular teaching responsibilities at this public liberal arts college, faculty members may teach courses both in the major and in the Integrative Studies Program.
