Lecturer, Sustainable Energy Management

Summary of Position     

This is an 88% FTE academic year (9 month) position with benefits in a Lecturer faculty capacity. Successful candidate will teach credit courses in Civil Technology’s Sustainable Energy Management concentration of the Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree. The teaching load expectation is a minimum of 20 credit hours along with professional and service activities.

Additional Job Information     

Responsibilities consist of teaching existing courses that include Mechanical and Electrical Systems, and Construction Contracting or similar topics such as 2D Design & Modeling including the laboratory portion of the courses. The candidate will be expected to develop three new courses in this discipline and will be expected to regularly develop new content and/or courses to respond to rapidly changing industry employment needs. Besides teaching, the successful applicant is expected to advise students and contribute leadership and visioning to the program and curriculum, including implementing new technologies as they develop, while embracing the CT learning community’s commitment to the role in applied science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Successful candidates should be prepared to work collaboratively with existing faculty in the program, as well as collaborate with the Departments of Natural Resources & the Environment and Civil & Environmental Engineering.

Acceptable Minimum Qualifications     

Qualified applicants must have a Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant field as well and 5 years of job experience, with a minimum of 2 in the sustainable energy industry, germane coursework and employment experiences in renewable/sustainable energy. Strong background in AutoCAD is required along with proficiency in green building evaluation software.
Additional Preferred Qualifications     

A Master’s degree is highly desirable. Demonstrated excellence in post-secondary teaching and advising strongly preferred.
