The Center for EcoTechnology is hiring an experienced Commercial Field Energy Auditor to identify and document envelop/weatherization, HVAC, domestic hot water and process load systems for energy savings opportunities for existing small and medium commercial facilities. Traveling throughout the Central Massachusetts/Boston Metropolitan area, the Commercial Field Energy Auditor conducts on-site energy audits.

The Auditor produces energy and cost effectiveness savings reports based on their findings and makes recommendations to present to their clients (building owners). The Auditor will periodically conduct post-install verifications of third-party energy efficiency measure installations to ensure equipment was installed to program specifications. This position has a primary focus on gas energy efficiency measures although secondary knowledge of lighting and HVAC technologies is required. This position is located in Eastern Massachusetts with up to 50% travel focused in the Central MA and Boston Metropolitan area and will require periodic travel to Western Massachusetts, CT and RI. Primary Functions

Technical

  • Conduct energy audits and site assessments of building systems to evaluate energy usage and identify energy conservation measures (ECMs).

  • Collect data during on-site inspections to document existing systems and associated equipment.

  • Write ASHRAE Level I energy efficiency reports customized to each facility.

  • Perform energy savings calculations and cost-benefit financial analyses for potential ECMs.

  • Perform energy use analyses of building systems using analytical tools to develop energy management plans focusing on energy savings and simple payback.

  • Communicate energy reduction plans through meetings with clients, such as management companies, building owners, or other decision makers.

  • Perform post installation inspections for other third-party implementation programs to ensure ECMs were installed.

  • Assist CET Sales team in delivering report results and answer technical questions related to project.

  • Mentor junior staff before, during and after energy audits to help them identify opportunities for energy efficiency savings.

Project Management:

  • Manage numerous projects simultaneously and work closely with commercial clients and utilities.

  • Help drive projects to completion through constant contact with building owners and coordination with CET Sales staff.

  • Identify and coordinate appropriate industry contractors to provide installation estimates as required.

  • Work closely with the Commercial Technical Services Manager and Sales team to evaluate and set up new customers.

What You Offer

You are committed to the non-profit mission of CET. You should have:

  • Minimum of 6 years relevant experience in the energy efficiency industry performing energy savings calculations, cost effectiveness and simple payback analysis and technical review of commercial building performance.

  • Minimum of 4 years direct experience doing commercial energy audits.

  • Bachelor’s degree in physical or environmental science or other technical field required.

  • Certified Energy Manager accreditation highly preferred with AEE Certified Energy Auditor accreditation a plus.

  • Strong knowledge of commercial weatherization, HVAC equipment and building controls for variety of building segments for large, medium and small commercial customers.

  • Focus on gas energy efficiency measures preferred.

  • Knowledge of ASHRAE Level II audit specifications a plus.

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and energy modeling experience.

  • CRM software experience required, Salesforce experience preferred.

  • Strong interpersonal skills including written, phone, email and verbal.

  • Desire and ability for strong client-facing communication. Ability to problem-solve, be flexible, creative, self-directed, detail-oriented and organized.

Physical Requirements

Possess ability to perform physical tasks including but not limited to: Standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods of time, reading and recording information on handwritten forms and computer screens, using hand tools (such as powered tools, measuring devices, etc.), lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds, navigating in small/enclosed places, climbing stairs and ladders, and working in loud, warm and cold environment.
