With a philosophy degree and a background in construction, Ryan brings unique perspectives, design skill, and construction expertise to his practice and teaching style. In addition to more than 15 years practicing in Northern New England, he has worked as a Historic Architect in remote Wrangel St Elias National Park in Alaska and an Architectural Researcher studying micro-enterprise businesses in East London.
Currently a board member on the AIA-Maine Committee on The Environment (COTE), as well as an adjunct professor in the Architecture Department at University of Maine Augusta, where he has taught the context of architectural professional practice, and developed a course in high-performance building design. In addition to these efforts Ryan's involvement at Maine Mass-Timber Commercialization Center brings an architectural perspective to Maine's role in this emerging industry.
Ryan’s commitment to architecture is grounded in his passion for community engagement and sustainable design. His appreciation for the real-world complexity of the process, and his abiding dedication to the realization of design have helped him to become a voice in the Northern New England architectural community.
