Stephen (Steve) Breit is a volunteer and board member of MassEnergize, and a co-founder of HeatSmart Alliance. Since retiring in 2018, Steve has dedicated much of his time to heating electrification with heat pump technology, organizing local events and doing in-depth coaching of neighbors and friends. Steve has 40 years of experience in multi-disciplinary, high-tech engineering management, developing innovative software solutions in several different industries and bringing them to market. From 2000 to 2018, Steve was on the top management team of Coventor, Inc., a startup that developed specialized software for the semiconductor industry and ultimately merged with Lam Research. Prior to Coventor, Steve managed development of speech recognition software for cars and mobile devices at Dragon Systems, led applications engineering at supercomputing startup Kendall Square Research, and performed research on high-performance scientific computing and hydro-acoustics at BBN Systems and Technologies. Throughout his career, Steve was a frequent presenter at conferences, and authored numerous technical papers and software patents. Steve has a Ph.D. in Ocean Engineering from MIT and a B.S. in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from Webb Institute.
