A Recap of NESEA's First Virtual Conference

Innovation is the essence of the NESEA community, and we are incredibly grateful to all those who helped us pilot our newest innovation – a virtual BuildingEnergy Boston. More than 750 people participated in our interactive 3-day event last month, and we are excited to use what we learned from their experience to make our next virtual conference even better.

Congratulations to the top 3 winners of our conference engagement game, Tina Hemming from Condair, Antin Lam from the UMass Amherst Building and Construction Technology Program, and Rheannon DeMond from Bensonwood. They will receive a full suite of merchandise from our new NESEA Merch Store!

Thank you to this year's sponsors, exhibitors, speakers, and Content Committee, especially to Conference Co-Chairs Sonia Barrantes and Cammy Peterson and to Vice-Chairs Nick Falkoff and Stephanie Horowitz.

Keep an eye out for the Open Planning Meeting for BuildingEnergy Boston 2021 later this fall.

Virtual Pro Tour: Southern Vermont Passive House

Friday, October 2, 12:30–2:30pm: Join NESEA for the kickoff event of our Fall 2020 BuildingEnergy Pro Tour series. This interactive, virtual Pro Tour, hosted by studioWEBSTER, will feature a newly constructed Passive House located in southern Vermont.

The project team who made the house a reality will share their integrated design process, goals for the project, and lessons learned. Just like an in-person Pro Tour, this event will mix presentation with small group conversation, giving participants the chance to interact with the team members and one another.

Attendance is limited to 60 participants, and our first virtual Pro Tour sold out quickly, so don't wait to register. Please note: To receive member pricing, you must log in to your NESEA account.

State of the Industry Alert on Solar Hot Water

A group of solar hot water companies, including NESEA Business Members RES Solar and Spartan Solar, are asking for help to save a successful local renewable energy industry that may not survive through 2021.

The Solar Hot Water (SHW) industry has made tremendous strides over the past 9 years in MA, but like Solar Electric systems, in the present climate with fossil fuel prices so low, incentives are necessary in order to attract the average homeowner to renewable energy systems. Currently, SHW systems qualify for (3) major incentives, all of which will be diminished or eliminated in 2021. These incentives are well worth the investment due to the benefits supplied by the SHW industry in MA. Learn more...

Over the last four years, the CTP has funded energy efficiency studies in over 900 tenant office spaces and helped impact over 90 million square feet of leased real estate.
