Planning Meeting: BuildingEnergy NYC Open Planning Meeting
When: Wednesday, March 23, 4pm–5:30pm

Cost: Free
Share your vision for BuildingEnergy NYC 2022 and help to shape this year's event by attending our Open Planning Meeting! The meeting will be interactive and paced to allow thoughtful conversation with other professionals from around the Northeast. We will be discussing questions such as:
- What new skills, knowledge, and solutions are most needed in the field today?
- How can we step up our game to meet new challenges and opportunities?
- What session topics and speakers would create an extraordinary learning experience at the BuildingEnergy conference?
You'll also learn how you can become a member of the Content Committee, which reviews session proposals and guides their development into high-quality sessions. The planning meeting is open to all – NESEA Membership is not required to register.

Pro Tour: Passive House Retrofit of a Brooklyn Carriage House
When: Friday, March 25, 2pm–5:30pm
Where: Brooklyn, NY
CEUs: PHIUS & AIA pending
Cost: $25 for NESEA Members, $35 for Non-Members
Join NESEA for the first BuildingEnergy Pro Tour of 2022, an in-person event featuring a Passive House retrofit of an 1800s Brooklyn Heights carriage house. You'll learn about the key goals of this renovation, including historic preservation and improving environmental performance.
The project team will walk attendees through the process of restoring the front façade of the historic house, increasing square footage in the cellar and on the roof, and connecting the multiple floors via a sculptural wood stair that sits below a large skylight, allowing light to pour through the center of the home. Attendees will also learn about the home’s energy systems and the specific considerations of bringing a historic home to Passive House standards.
Note: In accordance with NESEA’s in-person event policy, attendees of this Pro Tour will be required to be vaccinated against COVID-19. We will also require masks when inside except when eating or drinking.

We're Hiring!
Spread the word! NESEA is hiring a Program Manager who is passionate about the ability of events to bring people together and create community. The ideal candidate does not need to have a background in high performance building or building science, but should have a background that includes event planning, especially multiple small events throughout the year. They will provide planning, logistical, and on-site event support to multiple NESEA programs, especially BuildingEnergy Pro Tours and BuildingEnergy Bottom Lines. The Program Manager also provides administrative assistance for conferences, BuildingEnergy magazine, and the Emerging Professionals program. Learn more...

RESNET HERS Rater Training - Summer 2022

NEHERS is pleased to offer high quality HERS rater training classes in the Northeast and has contracted with Performance Systems Development (PSD) to run our Summer 2022 training. We offer a comprehensive training package that includes everything a student needs to be well prepared to become a HERS rater. Our hybrid HERS rater training classes have an online component, which includes all of the building science theory, and a classroom component, which includes all of the hands-on practical training and testing that is necessary to pass the rater exams. The content of NESEA's programs is driven by volunteer committees of NESEA Members. These committees perform a variety of functions, from selecting projects to be featured in our BuildingEnergy Pro Tour series to developing conference sessions and selecting speakers.
