Join NESEA in Connecticut for a Pro Tour featuring an exciting collaboration between two NESEA Bottom Lines members (Wolfworks and Rare Forms), showcasing a new, single family home, built from straw panels to reduce embodied carbon. For those attending BuildingEnergy NYC, this is a great opportunity to see some of the ideas discussed in our keynote address in action!

The client was interested in creating a low impact high performance home that will produce all the energy required for their farm. This tour will dig into the logistics of collaborating with a panel fabricator, detailing the assembly to maximize installation efficiency and identifying assemblies and materials utilized on this project to stay within the client's budget.

Our day will start with an opening presentation from the hosting companies, including sharing more about the process of the panel manufacture and the business and environmental case for this approach.

Then we'll travel to the site where we will then break into small groups to hear more from the project team, allowing for a comprehensive look at the work going into this home. After the tour, we’ll regroup for a reception and Q&A, giving attendees the opportunity to chat with the day’s speakers and each other.

Join NESEA for a Pro Tour where we will learn about East Montpelier Vermont's decision and process to electrify its new city garage, which could be a replicable solution for other towns in the Northeast. This is the first building of its kind that NESEA has featured in our Pro Tour program.

Our day will start with an opening presentation from our hosting team, including municipal representatives. As part of the opening presentation, attendees will learn the details of the life cycle cost analysis that revealed that the electric design had virtually the same 30-year life cycle cost as the lowest efficiency high carbon building, an analysis that enabled the Town to select the better option. This is a highly replicable project, as it uses current technologies and construction methods to achieve low operating costs. There are many of these garages being built throughout the region and the project team hopes this building can serve as an example for others. Join us!

The New Issue of BuildingEnergy Magazine Has Arrived: "My Favorite Project"

For this issue of BuildingEnergy Magazine, we asked our community to write about work that was especially meaningful to them, and to share what made that project so special. We were overwhelmed with the positive responses! You can read the latest issue here.

Photos from Recent Pro Tours in Vermont and New York

In September, NESEA was in Burlington, Vermont for a Pro Tour of their new high school, which replaced the former building that was demolished in 2023. This new building demonstrates significant progress on the City's Net Zero Energy goals, and the final form of the project reflects careful attention to detail and energy use and incorporates extensive feedback from the local community.

Next, we changed tack and had an in-depth look at one of the largest Phius-certified buildings in the country, when we toured an under construction, multi-phase Passive House development in Amsterdam, NY.

Our thanks go out to the attendees, hosts and sponsors who made this event possible!

You can see the upcoming dates in our 2026 Pro Tour Series here.

NESEA's own Ben Sachs-Hamilton appeared on the Net Zero Energy Burlington VT podcast by The Burlington Electric Department, discussing our Pro Tour program and the exciting work that went into the city's new all-electric, LEED High School and Tech Center. You can listen here.

NESEA Float in Ashfield MA's Lighted Boat Parade

A small crew of NESEA Members, along with some members of NESEA staff, created a lighted boat display celebrating Ashfield's commitment to sustainability and clean energy for their inaugural aquatic parade this September. There were some really fantastic creations and we were happy to be included in the lineup! Ashfield recently became the first Climate Leader Community in Franklin County, which is reason to celebrate.

Our thanks go out to all the NESEA Members who joined the project for their ideas and encouragement! Special thanks go out to Lydia Berry from ReVision Energy for all the artistic and logistical help, and to our intrepid captain, Sean Gallagher of Mitsubishi Electric Trane US, for his steady hand at the helm.
