Scholarships Available to BuildingEnergy NYC

Do you know an emerging professional or student who would benefit from attending BuildingEnergy NYC on October 3 & 4? If so, please encourage them to apply for a conference scholarship.

Individuals who have been in their careers for less than five years as well as current voc/tech, college, and graduate students who are passionate about renewable energy, sustainable building, and high-performance design should apply. The application can be found here and is due by September 16th.

September 14 Environmental Education Center Built for LBC Zero Energy Certification

Lincoln, MA: Join us for a tour of the Massachusetts Audubon Society’s new net zero environmental learning center. Attendees will learn how the team at Maclay Architects approached balancing the energy and conservation goals of this project while designing a space that best supports the needs of the occupants.

September 21 DER: Energy Efficiency & Natural Building Materials

Charlotte, VT: Tour a Deep Energy Retrofit of a single-family home that was honored this year with a Best of the Best Award for 2018 from Efficiency Vermont. During this event, the hosts from New Frameworks will detail the process they followed to make this project a reality. Particular emphasis will be given to the materials selection process.

Because you are a NESEA Member, we want to invite you to NESEA's 2018 Annual Meeting, which will take place during the opening reception of BuildingEnergy NYC on October 3 from 5pm–7pm. We hope you'll join us in celebrating the amazing work that the NESEA community has accomplished in the past year.

13th Annual North American Passive House Conference

Passive House Design Challenge

The RFP for the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC)'s Passive House Design Challenge is now open. The MassCEC, a NESEA Business Member, seeks to demonstrate that multifamily affordable housing can be built to Passive House standards in Massachusetts at a low to no cost premium. The Passive House Design Challenge will make awards of up to $4,000 per unit for approximately 5–7 new-construction, affordable housing developments that are seeking Massachusetts Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC).

The MassCEC encourages potential applicants to apply as early as possible, since the first round of evaluation will be in early October. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis but funding is limited and may be exhausted quickly. Learn more about the program here, or submit a proposal here.
