Less than a week remains to propose a session for BuildingEnergy NYC 2023, which will take place on October 12 in New York City. Some very exciting ideas have already been submitted and we hope you will consider adding yours. Presenting at this event is a great opportunity to share your expertise, drive conversation, and to inspire your colleagues.

With this year's conference theme of Deconstructing Decarbonization, we are looking for sessions that break down the decarbonization process from beginning to end, including policy, design, financing, inclusive workforce development, construction, and paths to reaching deeper change at scale.

Proposals will be reviewed and vetted by a volunteer committee of NESEA members to ensure that conference sessions are data-driven, diverse, and genuinely useful to attendees. Join NESEA for an exciting Pro Tour of this 7,744 square foot two story wood frame office building, serving as the headquarters of the Southeast Land Trust of New Hampshire. The building and associated site infrastructure were designed to meet a high level of energy efficiency and resiliency, with a special focus on locally harvested building materials. A large solar array was installed to achieve a net zero energy use goal. The building is 100% electric and operates off solar renewable energy.

The team of speakers, led by event host Chapman Construction/Design, hopes that this project can serve as an example of how to design an attractive, low energy building with low embodied carbon. We hope to see you there!

Join NESEA to tour this gut rehabilitation of a fire-damaged triple-decker in Cambridge, MA. The building, which provides three apartments for low-income residents, required emergency reconstruction; the owner requested high-quality, energy efficient design, paired with electrification instead of in-kind replacement. Our hosts, ZeroEnergy Design, will tell the story of the project: while renovating down to the studs, the project goals included maximizing building sustainability while minimizing long-term operating and replacement costs. NESEA's BuildingEnergy Bottom Lines program serves a network of 6 peer groups, collectively representing hundreds of people and over $100 million in revenue. In these peer groups, NESEA Member business owners help each other design and build better companies by sharing lessons learned, holding each other accountable to their goals, and offering support and encouragement. A limited number of spaces will be available in the program starting in July 2023.
