An invitation to BuildingEnergy Boston From Our Conference Chairs

Conference dates: Monday, March 23 - Tuesday, March 24
Where: Westin Boston Seaport District
Register Now

Dear Colleagues,

As this year’s conference chairs, we’re looking forward to this chance to meet with friends and peers, to learn new things and to find support from our community. We hope you’ll join us at BuildingEnergy Boston 2026 on March 23rd and 24th. We are excited to share the many thoughtful and inspiring sessions gathered this year and to stand together against new and old barriers.

The work we do is not easy, and we face a number of challenges that can take a toll on our well-being and the momentum we’ve built. This year’s conference theme is "Don’t Stop Us Now" because none of us has to face these challenges alone, and we know we can overcome them together. Everyone in this community has devoted countless hours of effort designing, building, managing and advocating for the things we believe in. Seeing those efforts paused, cut or diverted is disheartening to say the least, but we also see a growing number of people finding inspiring and creative ways to move forward. Through our content committee’s diligent work to curate quality sessions with inspiring speakers, we strive to highlight success in the face of adversity and investigate solutions to the barriers impeding progress. This is the time to counter injustice and inequality: by bringing marginalized voices into the conversation, gathering better data to influence more sustainable decisions, and proving that bold leadership is the best path forward.

Achieving our goals alone feels daunting, and that is why we want this conference to be a way to find the community that gives you the help you need. We don’t want to stop at all, and we hope you’ll share that feeling with us at this year’s BuildingEnergy Boston conference.

We hope to see you there!

Gregory Smith and Clay Tilton,
BuildingEnergy Boston 2026 Conference Chairs

Gregory Smith is a Senior Project Manager dedicated to bringing a focus on sustainability to every project, and promoting awareness and enthusiasm for Passive House, ZNE and carbon neutrality. He is a Certified Passive House Consultant through PHIUS.

Clay Tilton is the Existing Buildings Program Manager at Built Environment Plus. A key part of his work is launching the Building Performance Exchange, a centralized resource for improving efficiency and reducing emissions for large existing buildings in Massachusetts. Connecting professionals and owners with retrofit solutions will become vital as our building stock continues to age.

Not only is it one of the better organized conferences, the thousands of practitioners that make up the community are welcoming, generous subject matter experts. I always learn a lot and leave with my cup feeling full." - John Loercher, CPHC
