Join NESEA for a Pro Tour of a new construction, custom single-family home in Sherborn, Massachusetts, designed to minimize embodied carbon, maximize operational efficiency, support healthy indoor air quality, and mitigate negative impacts to the immediate watershed, all while providing a beautiful and functional space tailored to the client’s lifestyle.

The client encouraged the design and construction team to go beyond their various high-performance best practices to evaluate materials, systems, and construction approaches that would help evolve the future of residential construction. The project team will share the options that were selected, ones that weren't, and the lessons learned from some 'firsts' for both the design and construction teams.  The result is a modest and pragmatic home that balances durability, occupant health, and both embodied and operational carbon considerations while also pursuing PHIUS certification.

Our event will begin with an opening workshop led by our hosts, ZeroEnergy Design and Adams + Beasley Associates, where the team will discuss the history, goals, and design and construction strategies. Special attention will be paid to materials, assemblies, and mechanical systems. Attendees will then break into small groups to tour the building while hearing more from the interdisciplinary team of experts who made it possible. After the tour, we’ll regroup for a reception and Q&A, giving attendees the opportunity to chat with the day’s speakers and each other.
