Join NESEA for a Pro Tour where we will learn about Montpelier Vermont's decision to electrify their city garage, which could be a replicable solution for other towns in the Northeast. Electrified high efficiency buildings have many challenges. Life cycle costing during schematic design indicated that the best design had virtually the same 30-year life cycle cost as the lowest efficiency high carbon building. This analysis enabled the Town to select the better option. This is a highly replicable project, as it uses current technologies and construction methods to achieve a very low energy, low operating cost outcome. There are many of these garages being built throughout the region and this project is a good model for those. Our day will start with an opening presentation from the project team, including the developer and architect, where attendees will learn about the history of these two buildings, the vision for the extensive renovation, the high-performance work being done there, and the financing strategies making this work possible. Attendees will then break into small groups to tour the facility while hearing more from the interdisciplinary team of experts who made the building possible. After the tour, we’ll regroup for a reception and Q&A, giving attendees the opportunity to chat with the day’s speakers and each other. We hope to see you there!
