BuildingEnergy NYC 2025 Registration is Now Open

Event Date: Thursday, October 16, 2025
Location: Convene 237 Park Avenue, NYC
Register Now

NESEA's BuildingEnergy NYC conference and trade show is a chance to immerse yourself in a full day of networking and intensive learning with your peers from the fields of design, construction, engineering, policy, finance, and beyond.

The NESEA community has always been a force for courageous, innovative change. The 2025 BuildingEnergy NYC conference will focus on how those of us in the building industries can continue to take effective action by incorporating resilience, adaptation, and mitigation strategies towards large-scale climate goals, while navigating an environment where regulatory and funding structures are unpredictable. We all must think critically and innovatively about the approaches that are feasible to continue driving impact in an uncertain national landscape, as well as how design and policy considerations themselves can look toward the future and center climate adaptation.

This unique event is designed by and for our community of practitioners, with sessions presenting real case studies and proven data, as well as showcasing innovative technologies and programs. You can browse this year's session lineup here.

We have a very limited number of Early Bird passes available, at $396 for NESEA Members and $440 for non-members — register for yours today!

A few non-exhibiting conference sponsorship opportunities are also still available. Contact Ben Sachs Hamilton, Conference Director, at tradeshows@nesea.org to learn more.

MA Pro Tour: Flood Resistant Seafront Development in Revere

Event Date: Friday, September 19, 2025
Venue Address: Revere, MA
Event Cost: $35 Members/$45 Non-Members
CEU Information: AIA (4 LU|HSW)
Register Now

NESEA will be heading to the Revere waterfront as we tour a former junkyard that has been reinvented as a 6-story, 291-unit all-electric development with many interesting architectural features. This building is all-electric and PV-ready, a decision that exceeded the code requirements. Another early decision that extended beyond code requirements was to elevate the ground floor and primary utility rooms two feet above projected sea level rise. The landscape prioritizes flood resiliency and reduces heat island with permeable pavers, rain gardens, and native, sea-salt tolerant plantings. A 6,000-square-foot living roof, the largest and steepest on a residential project in New England, cascades diagonally to provide visibility from the ground.

The event will begin with an opening presentation, with details including the design strategies, materials selection, performance goals, and site considerations of the project. We hope to see you there!

In autumn 2023, in just two weeks, Paul A. Castrucci Architects shipped and assembled 47 modular units from Leola, PA, to East Flatbush, Brooklyn. The result was this four-story residential complex with affordable, Passive House design. NESEA invites you to an in-depth tour of this innovative project, which aims to reduce energy use and embodied carbon, while embracing circular building design. This building is the first modular Passive House building in NYC. This 57-unit all-electric building was developed through the Senior Affordable Rental Assistance Program (SARA) and includes 18 units reserved for formerly homeless individuals referred by city agencies. The remaining units are open to the general public.

Our event will begin with an opening workshop where the team will discuss the history, goals, and design and construction strategies. Attendees will then break into small groups to tour the facility while hearing more from the interdisciplinary team of experts who made the building possible. After the tour, we’ll regroup for a reception and Q&A, giving attendees the opportunity to chat with the day’s speakers and each other.

Here's to a bright future, a close community, and a more sustainable and healthy built environment!

50th Anniversary Pro Tour Retrospective

Connecting in the field to learn about innovative projects and advancements in sustainable technology and building practice has always been part of NESEA. Over the years, we've run countless workshops, tours, and other events designed to bring people together to see projects first-hand. The current iteration of this work is our popular BuildingEnergy Pro Tour program, deep dives into high performance building projects across the northeast. We took a look back at the first 11 years and 136 projects featured in this program. You can read more about the program and see a map and gallery of former sites, here.
