Our thanks go out to the sponsors, hosts and attendees who all made this tour possible. You can see a gallery of photos from this sold-out Pro Tour here.
In autumn 2023, in just two weeks, Paul A. Castrucci Architects shipped and assembled 47 modular units from Leola, PA, to East Flatbush, Brooklyn. The result was this four-story residential complex with affordable, Passive House design. NESEA invites you to an in-depth tour of this innovative project, which aims to reduce energy use and embodied carbon, while embracing circular building design. This building is the first modular Passive House building in NYC. This 57-unit all-electric building was developed through the Senior Affordable Rental Assistance Program (SARA) and includes 18 units reserved for formerly homeless individuals referred by city agencies. The remaining units are open to the general public.
Our event will begin with an opening workshop where the team will discuss the history, goals, and design and construction strategies. Attendees will then break into small groups to tour the facility while hearing more from the interdisciplinary team of experts who made the building possible. After the tour, we’ll regroup for a reception and Q&A, giving attendees the opportunity to chat with the day’s speakers and each other.
