Why is our production facility different than others?

At Bensonwood, reducing waste is built into how we design and build.

Here’s what that looks like in practice:

- Wood-first building systems that minimize plastics and foams

- Dense-pack cellulose insulation made from recycled cardboard (via CleanFiber)

- Structural components sourced from sustainably managed forests (Nordic Structures)

In our shops:

- Wood waste is repurposed into fuel for our boilers

- 392 tons of wood chips processed in 2025 alone

On our job sites:

- Panel wrap, cardboard, and packaging are collected and recycled

- 21 tons of materials recycled in 2025

Across our operations:

- Our solar array has produced ~101% of our electricity over the past six years

This approach takes more coordination and investment, but it keeps materials in use and reduces what ends up in landfills.
