Athena Building Performance is a growing, woman-owned weatherization contractor serving Central and Western Massachusetts. We help homeowners, landlords, and affordable housing providers improve comfort, reduce energy costs, and create healthier homes through insulation, air sealing, and building science.

We're looking for a hardworking, dependable team member who enjoys hands-on work, learning new skills, and taking pride in doing quality work.

No weatherization experience? That's okay. If you have a positive attitude, show up ready to learn, and enjoy working with your hands, we'll teach you the rest.

What You'll Do

As a Weatherization Technician, you'll work alongside experienced crew leaders to:

  • Install insulation, air sealing, and other energy-efficiency improvements
  • Prepare and protect occupied homes before work begins
  • Load and unload materials and equipment
  • Work in attics, basements, crawlspaces, and other residential work areas
  • Operate power tools and insulation equipment safely
  • Follow company and Mass Save® quality standards
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional job site
  • Deliver excellent customer service while working in occupied homes

As your skills grow, you'll have opportunities to learn advanced building science techniques including:

  • Blower door testing
  • Combustion safety testing
  • Insulation assessments

What We're Looking For

Required:

  • 18 years or older
  • Valid Massachusetts Driver's License
  • Clean driving record
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screen
  • Reliable attendance
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Ability to work well as part of a team
  • Available for 7AM start at our shop in South Hadley

Helpful, But Not Required:

  • Construction or remodeling experience
  • Insulation or weatherization experience
  • Carpentry experience
  • Experience working in occupied homes
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish or other languages)

Physical Requirements

This is an active, hands-on construction position. Team members must be able to:

  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Climb ladders and access attics and crawlspaces
  • Bend, kneel, stoop, crawl, and work overhead
  • Work indoors and outdoors throughout the year
  • Operate power tools safely
  • Drive company vehicles

  • Day shift
  • Overtime available

Pay

$20-$23 per hour, based on experience.
