Join NESEA as we tour Solara Phase 3, a low embodied carbon, market-rate, net zero multifamily complex in Rotterdam, NY. The complex, including the first two phases, will be the largest market-rate net zero complex in the US upon completion.
Attendees will learn about how the project used an integrated design process, involving all stakeholders from the beginning, and how keeping the construction methods and systems simple - using standard construction techniques, commonly available materials, and standard commercial financing - made the project both profitable and replicable.
This tour will reveal how ambitious energy and carbon goals can be achieved side-by-side with good space design in a way that is simple to execute. Attendees will hear from multiple members of the project team, including our host, Black Mountain Architecture, and will have a chance to connect with each of the speakers in small group settings as we make our way through the project.
This project was recognized as Round One & Two Winner in NYSERDA’s Buildings of Excellence Competition, administered by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA). The Buildings of Excellence Competition was initially launched in March 2019 and has awarded over $48 million to 56 exemplary clean and resilient multifamily projects through three rounds.
