Harbor Village, 30 units of affordable housing in the coastal Massachusetts town of Gloucester, is on track to be the third certified Passive House multifamily building in Massachusetts.  Harbor Village is part of a wave of new multifamily Passive projects in Massachusetts, with 86 proposed multifamily buildings currently enrolled in the Mass Save Passive House incentive program.  Hear about policies that have led to the boom in Passive House interest.  Then hear from Michelle Apigian of ICON Architecture, who has designed all three of the first PH multifamily projects in MA.   Learn how ICON was able to create a contemporary, high-performance building while responding to the historic context.  The team worked with a general contractor that had no prior passive house experience, so we will discuss how the team worked proactively - and occasionally reactively! -  to overcome challenges and ultimately achieve the required air-tightness levels.
