Gender Diversity and Inclusion in the Trades

The design and construction trades are cisgender, male-dominated work spheres. The goal of this session is to prioritize the creation and maintenance of gender-diverse workplaces in Triple Bottom Line businesses and in our trade in general. We will look at the interlocking spheres of culture, attitudes, hiring and retention, behavior, practices, policies, pay, training, and tracking, and will propose some tangible steps for continuing to improve this critical “people” metric. This session will raise awareness of the issue through a panel discussion addressing these questions:

  • From an employee perspective, what makes a workplace feel more welcome?
  • From an employer perspective, what have you done to address these issues?
  • How can success be measured?
