Decarbonizing New York — Local Law 97 and LEEDv5

Join U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) staff and local experts for a discussion about the next iteration of the LEED green building certification system, LEED v5. USGBC intends to drive the built environment toward a low-carbon future that is equitable and resilient and promotes the wise, safe utilization of all resources. USGBC staff and local experts will guide attendees through the new rating system's structure and explain how to engage in the rating system.

Additionally, this session will highlight efforts in New York State and New York City’s Local Law 97. It is the most ambitious building emissions legislation enacted by any city in the world, and it incorporates many recommendations from our local aligned partner Urban Green’s 80×50 Buildings Partnership report.

Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and offer insights as they learn more about USGBC’s work to create an end-to-end ecosystem for green buildings, ensuring the built environment is supported in meeting goals from design to operations.

Speakers: Monique Owens, Carl Ian Graham, Laurie Kerr
