On June 10, the NESEA Board of Directors will be hosting an in-person meet-up for people working in industries connected to NESEA who have identities that are traditionally underrepresented in the field. We are hosting this get together in response to requests from people in our community who have asked us to create more opportunities to foster connections, share experiences, and build support and community in a relaxed, social setting.
NESEA envisions a vibrant and resilient built environment that supports climate justice and equity. Events like this are in service of that vision.
We are specifically inviting people who have marginalized identities, including women, LGBTQIA, BIPOC individuals, people living with a disability, and others who could benefit from this community building. If you are interested in this event but have questions about whether or not you should attend, please email NESEA Board Chair Andrea Mancino at inclusion@nesea.org.
A similar event is planned for Boston in September. You can read a recent Open Letter from the Board of Directors here, which addresses the current rhetoric-at-large across the country and how it relates to our strategic plan and NESEA's work.
