On December 5th, we will be holding an in-depth tour of a 73,000 GSF, 3-story building featuring 68 units of affordable senior housing, including 66 one-bedroom apartments and 2 two-bedroom apartments. This building was designed with high-performance building materials and systems to maximize energy efficiency and sustainability. As a high-performance, affordable housing project, our hosts believe this site offers valuable insights for NESEA’s community of building professionals, particularly those interested in Passive House construction, multifamily energy efficiency, and sustainable design strategies.

The Passive House-certified design ensuring optimal energy performance Wood-framed construction with a slab-on-grade concrete foundation, Triple-glazed Amberline windows, with extensive glazing, and millwork in amenity areas, sustainable façade materials were used throughout. 100% all-electric HVAC and hot water systems are run by a 150kW photovoltaic system to support on-site renewable energy generation.

Our event will begin with an opening workshop where the team will discuss the history, goals, and design and construction strategies. Attendees will then break into small groups to tour the facility while hearing more from the interdisciplinary team of experts who made the building possible. After the tour, we’ll regroup for a reception and Q&A, giving attendees the opportunity to chat with the day’s speakers and each other. We hope to see you there!

More information will be added to this page as we get closer to the event date.
