Energy Engineer II
Salary:
$80,000–$100,000 Per Year
Principal Accountabilities:
- Energy Audits & Analyses: Perform energy efficiency analyses for ASHRAE Level I, II, and III audits. Conduct Local Law 87 energy audits and retro-commissioning activities
- Site Assessments: Conduct energy audits of complex building systems. Evaluate energy usage and identify energy conservation measures (ECMs)
- Analysis: Perform feasibility studies for complex projects. Conduct energy savings and cost-benefit analyses
- Energy Reduction Planning: Create building-wide energy reduction plans. Analyze building and facility systems using analytical tools
- Funding & Incentives: Leverage rebate, financial, and loan initiatives. Support project implementation through available funding programs
- Testing & Compliance: Test and retro-commission building systems. Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and Local Law 87 requirements
- Innovation & Tools: Generate ideas for new ECMs based on audit experience. Develop analytical tools to improve efficiency
- Utility Analysis: Analyze utility bills to identify consumption patterns. Identify opportunities for energy reduction
- Client Communication: Present energy reduction plans to clients. Support meetings with management companies, building owners, and building staff
- Project Support: Assist lead engineers on energy projects. Apply technical knowledge to ensure compliance and proper implementation of capital improvements
- Training & Mentorship: Oversee and train interns in energy efficiency analysis. Guide junior team members in conducting analyses and site visits
- Process Improvement: Support maintenance and improvement of analytical tool templates. Enhance energy audit procedures for the team
- Professional Development: Collaborate with management and senior staff. Develop unique area of specialty within the energy field
- Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as required. Support team and departmental initiatives as needed
Technical Qualifications and Other Job Requirements:
We’re looking for someone who combines technical expertise with a passion for energy efficiency and building performance. The ideal candidate will bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent hands-on experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in the energy or building performance sector
- Strong understanding of energy efficiency concepts, HVAC systems, and renewable energy technologies
- Experience with energy modeling and analytical techniques
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with advanced Excel skills
- Physical ability to perform site work including standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, working in various environmental conditions, and lifting up to 25 pounds
- Primarily based in New York City with regular site visits throughout the five boroughs
