Energy Rating Specialist

Overview:

You will work with design and construction teams from initial project planning through final construction, performing energy modeling and field inspections through various stages of the construction process to support the delivery of CLEAResult’s portfolio of New Construction services including:

  • HERS Ratings
  • Energy Code Compliance
  • Energy Star Homes
  • DOE Efficient New Homes
  • Passive House

​Responsibilities Include:

  • Reviewing construction blueprints and plans
  • Generating energy modeling using REM-Rate/EKOTROPE software
  • Visiting sites during construction
  • Collecting site data and performing diagnostic testing, including the use of blower door and duct blaster
  • Collecting and producing documentation related to the progress, status, and outcome of each project, and preparing and submitting required documents to verify code compliance, certification, and rebate eligibility
  • Successfully communicating technical concepts to contractors in support of energy efficiency and green specifications
  • Initiating outreach to potential clients to ensure program enrollment goals are met
  • Supporting projects from initial modeling to final construction, and assisting project teams with meeting their goals (energy savings, code compliance, green verification, program incentives)
  • Providing project teams with technical assistance and training to overcome barriers
  • Participating in ongoing training and education provided by CLEAResult to build a solid technical knowledge of building science, diagnostics testing and the latest industry developments

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (Building Science/Design/Construction focus); field experience may substitute for degree for right candidate
  • Experience in Residential Construction preferred
  • Proven ability to learn and process technical information from many different sources - new products, services and measures are regularly introduced into the program
  • Strong interpersonal, writing, verbal communication, and reporting skills
  • Detail oriented with an ability to balance and manage multiple tasks and deadlines both independently and in a team setting
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
