KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Execute rough and finish carpentry tasks, including framing, stair construction, custom trim, cabinetry, and built-ins.
- Lead or contribute to siding, window, and door installations with a focus on precision, weather tightness and airtightness.
- Interpret and work from architectural drawings, blueprints, scopes of work, and project specs.
- Mentor and support junior carpenters and laborers, fostering skill growth and job site efficiency.
- Collaborate with project managers to ensure project milestones, timelines, and quality standards are met.
- Construct decks, porches, and exterior architectural features with a strong emphasis on durability and aesthetics.
- Implement advanced building techniques in high-performance and energy-efficient construction.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with OSHA and company protocols.
- Communicate proactively to solve problems and ensure a smooth project flow.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
- 5+ years of professional carpentry experience, preferably with journeyman-level training or equivalent.
- Mastery of rough and finish carpentry, including complex layouts, angles, and installations.
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents and specifications independently.
- Willingness to explore and share new methods and materials.
- Advanced proficiency with carpentry tools, layout systems, and materials (wood, PVC, cement board, metal, etc.).
- Proven ability to manage job site productivity and mentor junior staff.
- Understanding of high-performance building systems (air sealing, thermal breaks, water management, key passive house concepts, etc.).
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & SCHEDULE:
- This is a full-time position, typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM (40 hours/week), with work taking place at various job sites throughout the greater Bangor, ME area with travel up to an hour away. Outdoor work in changing weather conditions is part of the role. We understand that life happens outside of work too.
