Athena Building Performance is a weatherization contractor specializing in the challenges and intricacies of existing residential buildings. We provide weatherization for various State programs, including MassSave and the Weatherization Assistance Program. For over 30 years for residential and commercial projects, Massachusetts registered professional engineer Bart Bales, MSME of Bales Energy Associates, has provided mini-consults, design & advising on heat pumps & HVAC systems, especially heat pumps. For large buildings and facilities, Bales Energy Associates provides energy analysis, HVAC design, and implementation of high-performance, energy-efficient, and renewable energy systems with a “whole-systems,” building science-based approach. Bart Bales develops and teaches accredited one-day heat pump-related workshops and webinars for architects and engineers in person or online over an 8-state region in the Northeast. In fun, some call Bart “Captain Heat Pump.”
