Russ has 42 years of progressive experience in sustainable structural engineering design including lead engineer roles in management and execution of projects. He has significant experience in assessments, renovations, rehabilitations, additions, expansions, field inspection, and construction engineering for all types of construction. His work also includes performing quality assurance and peer reviews. Russ has been involved in sustainable projects throughout his practice. He is currently serving on the American Society of Civil Engineers Structural Engineering Institute’s Sustainability Committee. In this capacity, co-authored the masonry section of ASCE's “Structural Engineer’s Guide to Sustainability”, and has presented at Structures Congress' and the NASCC on thermal break and fabric-formed concrete practices.
Russ is also a member of the Structural Engineering Institute’s (SEI) Sustainability Committee’s Thermal Bridging Working Group and has co-authored a supplement to the Modern Steel Construction publication, Modern Steel, March 2012 edition. He has written for national structural engineering magazines on foundations and thermal bridging reduction. He presented at NESEA's BE, Better Buildings in Burlington, VT on Cement Impact Reduction strategies, the Vermont Ready Mix Concrete Association annual meeting, for the Vermont Chapter CSI on roof located solar. Russ leads EV SE 2050 team's implementation of Life Cycle Analysis and embodied CO2 load work.
