Keynote — From Silos to Synergy: Toward Inclusion and Thriving Communities
The design profession has responded creatively and urgently to the climate impacts, but there is more needed to Build the Movement! Climate disturbances disproportionately impact marginalized and frontline communities, and will continue to intensify. Now is the time to think broader about our work, projects, processes, and goals, so we can learn from the immense knowledge and creativity that communities hold. In addition, expanding the design profession to diversify race, ethnicity, gender, and socioeconomic background will enhance our ability to develop holistic and responsive designs. Together, we can expand from silos to create inclusive teams and processes that embrace diverse perspectives and drive innovative, community-focused solutions.
