‘First of Many’ Deployments: Building Trust in Innovation in NY's Affordable Housing

Bringing a new solution into an occupied affordable housing building for the first time is no small feat. With housing providers balancing affordability, tenant comfort, and day-to-day operations with limited staff and little room for risk, few want to go first. So what does it take for the ones that do?

This session explores what has to happen to make those early projects succeed, and to ensure they are not the last. Drawing on a series of novel affordable housing retrofit projects from New York, panelists will share what got them comfortable with trying a new approach, how decisions got made, where projects hit friction, how tenants experienced the work, and what built enough confidence to do it again.

Join this conversation and share your perspective on how to turn early projects into repeatable practice, so that the first project in a building becomes the first of many.
