Greening Affordable Housing: Driving Energy Efficiency, Clean Energy, and Health in Our Communities | 03/09/2017 - 1:30pm | BuildingEnergy Boston 2017 |
Drew Vernalia is Asset Manager for Codman Square Neighborhood Development Corporation (CSNDC), where he has taken the lead on enrolling the organization in HUD’s Renew 300 program and its Better Buildings Challenge, committing to deep and long-term energy savings across CSNDC’s housing portfolio. CSNDC is currently developing green real estate through its Talbot Norfolk Triangle Eco-Innovation District, which is a comprehensive effort at neighborhood scale sustainability that marries green, transit-oriented development (TOD), renewable energy, water conservation, alternative energy, sustainable food systems, waste reduction, and climate preparedness through resilience. This first-of-its-kind project in the City of Boston is working in a 13 block section of Codman Square with 1300 residents–the Talbot Norfolk Triangle–using the LEED-ND rating system as an organizing principle.
