Stas Zakrzewski received his Bachelors of Architecture degree from University College Dublin in 1992 and his Master of Architecture from Columbia University in 1996 where he graduated with honors for excellence in design. Prior to attending graduate school, Mr. Zakrzewski worked as design architect for Hisao Koyama in Tokyo, Japan and later at Skidmore Owings & Merrill in New York City. After graduating from Columbia University, Mr. Zakrzewski worked as design architect and project manager at both Wendy Evans Joseph Architect and at Maya Lin’s Studio where he successfully saw through a number of institutional projects.
Mr. Zakrzewski started his own practice in 1999 and worked independently until the establishment of Zakrzewski & Hyde Architects in 2002. Mr. Zakrzewski has been a registered architect in the State of New York since 2000.
Mr. Zakrzewski’s personal interests lie in the pursuit of effective architectural and urban design strategies and creating a synthesis between the design and energy saving features of a project. His facility in detailing brings unique solutions to each design challenge, regardless of budget, scale or program. Mr Zakrzewski became a certified Passive House Consultant in 2011 and is currently a board member of the non profit New York Passive House organization.
