Lowering Total Carbon Emissions in a Dorm: Strategies for Design and Construction | 03/20/2024 - 2:30pm | BuildingEnergy Boston 2024 |
Following five years of working in New York City, Catherine (Cat) saw first-hand the issues that arise when natural systems and built environment systems are in conflict. She returned to school for a graduate degree in the Pacific Northwest to focus more on sustainable design. She specifically looked at how design affects community engagement with climate change challenges around water resources. She was excited to move to Vermont and work on projects that reflected her environmental and social values and apply her experience to more community-oriented and educational projects. Cat loves working with clients to build the project’s narrative while applying some of the research methods she practiced during graduate school. Within Vermont, Cat has led two Net-Zero Ready projects, one a town office and another the Putney School’s new set of dorms. Cat is a registered architect in New York.
