When Does Smaller Scale Cogeneration Make Sense? | 03/10/2016 - 10:30am | BuildingEnergy Boston 2016 |
Gregory Hester is the founder and managing partner at EBD Engineering located in Marlborough, Connecticut. EBD is a full service, innovative engineering firm, capable of providing mechanical, electrical and structural engineering services in addition to our vast background in energy conservation and master planning. As our initials EBD “Efficient By Design” suggest, we are dedicated to providing our clients with holistic, energy efficient design and superior customer service from the planning and conceptual design stages through construction administration and commissioning.
Mr. Hester has more than 21 years of experience in the design and energy efficiency arenas and has helped his customers save hundreds of millions of dollars in capital and operating expenses since graduating Summa Cum Laude with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Hartford. Mr. Hester also holds an MBA from The University of Connecticut where he focused on Finance and Operations in order to gain a more thorough understanding of his customers overall needs relative to energy and facility master planning, life cycle and operational costs, environmental awareness and cost conscious design.
Mr. Hester also has substantial experience in the evaluation, analysis and design of large complex systems including central boiler and chilled water plants. Much like the image above highlights, Mr. Hester pulls from his vast experience of simulation, modeling and designing to help his customer’s reach their goals.
Mr. Hester thrives on the management of complex projects that require creative thinking while working within identified cost constraints. Greg has organized EBD to operate with the fundamental objective to establish a network of repeat clients who share in our interest, dedication and vision in finding a balance between capital cost outlay and the long term economic benefit of the energy savings projects we help them plan, design and execute. Greg has proven experience with incorporating the long term operability, safety and maintenance of the systems that he designs.
In addition to large central plant design, Mr. Hester also has more than 16 years of combined heat and power (CHP) plant analysis and design experience. During his career, Greg has been responsible for the design and financial performance for more than $320M in energy optimization projects (>$150M in cogeneration/biomass projects) and has helped his customers obtain more than $31M in utility rebates and State incentives.
Greg is a licensed professional engineer and a very active member in the energy conservation industry.
