Howard J. Brown is a leading thinker, educator, and visionary at the nexus of business, environment, design, and social responsibility. Co-author of Naked Value: Six Things Every Business Leader Needs to Know About Resources, Innovation & Competition, Mr. Brown is an expert in guiding organizations to align business and environmental practices and deliver more value while using resources most strategically. Throughout his career as an educator at Yale and Wesleyan Universities, a colleague of renowned systems thinker R. Buckminster Fuller, and a successful entrepreneur, Howard has applied his bold ideas and solutions related to environmental, economic, and social sustainability to advance a better, more prosperous world.
For more than 20 years as CEO of Resource Planning & Management Systems Inc. (RPM), Howard’s pioneering techniques launched RPM as a world leader in providing strategic management and information technology services to Fortune 500 and multi-national corporations. Howard led clients to integrate environmental and social responsibility into their business practices and reap cost savings and competitive advantage. His work with governments and industry associations informed cutting-edge energy conservation and waste reduction policies and helped define best-practice industry standards. His continuously evolving techniques for systems thinking, acting beyond compliance and utilizing information management systems to integrate environmental metrics into overall business practice, remain state-of-the-art around the globe.
Most recently Howard co-founded dMASS Inc. to accelerate innovations that deliver more benefits using resources more strategically. In a world of increasing resource constraints, cutting-edge business and technology strategies have the potential to sustainably expand economic prosperity. dMASS connects industry leaders and innovators in order to realize the opportunity of innovative, anticipatory design to increase resource performance, improve competitive advantage, and manage resource-related risks.
