Rebekah Morris
Rebekah Morris works at the intersection of housing, climate, and social justice in New York City. Areas of focus include designing, analyzing, and piloting program and policy strategies focused on energy efficiency, affordable housing, and climate mitigation and resiliency. Her work involves synthesizing learnings from on-the-ground partnerships with local CBOs and low-income residents into programs, policy recommendations and legislation that can meet climate and housing goals of policymakers and the needs of the local community. Currently Rebekah runs EnergyFit Affordable Small Homes, a decarbonization demonstration project helping 2-unit and 3-unit low-income buildings retrofit and electrify their homes.
Rebekah has over 11 years’ experience crafting and implementing outreach and engagement strategies, designing and piloting programs that improve citizen participation in sustainability and resiliency initiatives, and performing research and policy work in partnership with New York City’s low-and moderate-income communities.
At the start of her career, Rebekah implemented economic development initiatives in partnership with CBOs and housing counselors across the United States to help low-income households access benefits such as SNAP, HEAP and Section 8.
She holds an undergraduate degree in Communications & Sociology from UMASS Amherst. Rebekah received her Master's in Urban Planning from NYU in 2012.
