Smit Ajmera is a mechanical engineer focused on advancing sustainable building design, energy modeling, and indoor air quality. He holds a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder, where his work centered on optimizing building performance to achieve net-zero and low-carbon outcomes.
Prior to completing his master’s degree in 2025, Smit served as a Research Assistant at the Vance Lab, where he analyzed indoor air dynamics during wildfire events using CONTAM simulations. His work contributed to a deeper understanding of pollutant transport and ventilation system performance in residential environments.
He has also led and contributed to a range of sustainability-driven projects, including modeling high-performance buildings and developing an electric urban cart that promotes cleaner urban maintenance practices.
Smit is passionate about uniting data-driven engineering with climate-responsive design to create built environments that are resilient, efficient, and human-centered.
