Operational and Embodied Carbon, Together at Last! The MA 100-Home Embodied Carbon Study

The Massachusetts 100-Home Embodied Carbon Study was convened by a team of industry collaborators to explore the feasibility of adding embodied carbon analysis to the existing operational energy assessments currently conducted by HERS Raters and to establish a benchmark for embodied carbon emissions in new residential construction in Massachusetts. Presenters will review how this research interacts with embodied carbon in the Massachusetts building code and RESNET standard 1550. The study lays the groundwork for industry preparation, standards adoption, and market transformation for embodied carbon assessments by the HERS Rater community.
