Mark owns Logical Efficiency LLC based in Katonah, NY which provides consultation and implementation services that assist public and private entities in scaling clean energy improvements through innovative community-based marketing, finance and policy. Mark serves also as the Town of Bedford, NY, Director or Energy and Sustainability in a pro-bono capacity where he assists staff and elected leadership in proposing ideas and options for the in the areas of energy use, resiliency and environmental sustainability. Mark also serves as a member of the Katonah-Lewisboro School District Sustainability Committee of the School Board as well as Board member of the Bedford 2020 Coalition.
Mark F. Thielking served as one of the founders of the Energy Improvement Corporation (EIC) a New York State Not for Profit, Local Development Corporation controlled by member municipalities and organized to facilitate the rollout of Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) financing in NYS. Mark served as Board Chairmen for the first four years of the corporation and then as its first Executive Director until 2019. The EIC operated Energize NY Residential and EIC PACE which helped property owners in member municipalities to implement energy related improvements that meet or exceed state standards through innovative community based outreach and/or PACE financing offerings. In managing EIC, Mark led the development and adoption of local laws in over 40 municipalities that represent over 50% of the non-NYC population of New York State. Prior to Mark’s involvement with EIC and Logical Efficiency he spent 18yrs in the capital markets at PaineWebber Inc and UBS and served as a Managing Director within the UBS Investment Bank’s Environmental Advisory Group (EAG) where a suite of environmental services and risk management tools were offered to UBS clients. Mark was also involved in researching environmental markets in the U.S. such as carbon, green tags and renewable energy credits for future UBS involvement. Prior to this position, Mark was the Desk Head for US Dollar Government Sponsored Entity bond trading at UBS Investment Bank.
As an innovative leader in leveraging the power of the capital markets and community action to achieve local and regional clean energy and economic development goals, Mark has presented at events sponsored by New York State Energy Research Development Authority (NYSERDA), North East Sustainable Energy Association (NESEA), Urban Land Institute (ULI), PACE University Land Use Center, Citibank and others. Mark holds a BA degree in Economics from Boston University.
