The NEWIEE Awards recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of women leaders in the fields of energy and environment. These women have achieved professional excellence within their area of specialty and have actively paved the way to success for other women in similar or related professional areas.

NEWIEE's 2019 Annual Awards Gala will feature five exceptional women leaders!

Keynote:

Maria T. Vargas serves as a Senior Program Advisor at the Department of Energy. Ms. Vargas is also the Director of DOE’s Better Buildings Initiative. Through Better Buildings, DOE works with leaders in the public and private sectors to make American buildings at least 20 percent more efficient in the next decade. Hundreds of chief executive officers, University presidents and state and local leaders are partners and are upgrading buildings across their portfolio and sharing innovative solutions and strategies as models for others to follow\

  • Karen Coyne - Former Vice President and Global Head of Environment at Novartis
  • Lisa Frantzis - Senior Managing Director at Advanced Energy Economy and Managing Director at Navigant
  • June E. Tierney - Commissioner at the Vermont Department of Public Service

Rising Star Awardee

  • Emily Luksha - Director of Rates and Revenue Requirements Division at the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities
