New Frameworks is a worker-owned, high performance natural building company looking for a lead carpenter to head our home performance and renovations team.

Core Site-based Responsibilities:

  • Supports Home Performance/Renovations Project Manager and works directly with them to fulfill project construction.
  • Delivers projects on budget, on schedule, and to the clients’ satisfaction.
  • Strong renovation carpentry skills: framing through finishes.
  • Strong building science and green building skills with an interest to grow in this area. Regular in-house and external training included with this position.
  • Leads and manages crew effectively and builds positive daily culture.
  • Communicates daily with clients regarding progress, logistics, and other incidental requirements relevant to the execution of the work.
  • Communicates regularly with the Project Manager regarding progress, particularly as it relates to schedule, budget, and staffing needs/concerns.
  • Procures materials, including delivery coordination and ordering, as required to conduct the work.
  • Supervises and manages subcontractors on site, including supporting and directing their work, verifying quality and compliance, and alerting the Project Manager of any issues.
  • Supports crew training and adherence to all State, Federal, and Local codes and quality standards for health & safety and energy performance.

Core Administrative Responsibilities

  • Assists with estimating and planning process for developing projects, as needed.
  • Participates regularly in quarterly All-Company Meetings to help steer direction of company and is an active member of the Build Committee.
  • Participates actively in interdependent, team-focused company culture.

Potential responsibilities:

  • Performance audit administration & audit reports
  • Facilitates incentive program requirements for clients

Requirements/Prerequisites:

  • 10-15 yrs + experience in renovation construction and/or energy & weatherization work.
  • Has 2+ years experience managing a crew and a desire to improve in this area.
  • BPI, Passive House Certification, Healthy Homes Certification preferred but not required.
  • Reliable transportation and tools required.
  • Is a strong team player and wishes to work as a part of a group focused on vision and mission of the company.
  • Is able to work well independently, as well as manage a small team of workers.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills: in person, via phone and email.
  • Ability to manage fast-paced work environments and in clients’ private homes with respect.
  • Ability to track hours and manage project details on web-based information management systems (training to be provided).
