Terminal Administrator – Marine Commerce Terminal in New Bedford

The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center’s (MassCEC) Terminal Administrator (“Terminal Administrator”) works to assist with operations support, business development, and marketing. The New Bedford Marine Commerce Terminal is a heavy-lift facility built in 2015 to support the construction, assembly, and deployment of offshore wind projects, as well as handle bulk, break-bulk, container and large specialty marine cargo.  

The Terminal Administrator will work under the supervision of the MassCEC’s Terminal Manager at the New Bedford Marine Commerce Terminal, 4 Wright Street, New Bedford, MA.   

Job Duties/Responsibilities   

  • Work with the Terminal Manager to help develop and maintain relationships between MassCEC and offshore wind, cargo, and maritime industry contacts.  
  • With Terminal Manager draft, organize, and manage presentations, procurements, contracts, project website information, and other outreach materials.  
  • Perform operational support activities at the Terminal, including on-site utility management; vessel logistics, scheduling, and communications; and inspection of Terminal customer usage of the Facility.  
  • Coordinate and manage vendors for facility maintenance.  
  • Manage invoicing and billing related to Terminal operations and customers.  
  • Provide administrative and procedural support for business development and marketing, and customer base initiatives.  
  • Other tasks as directed by the Terminal Manager.  
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule that is responsive to changes in customer needs.  

Preferred Qualifications  

Education:   

  • Bachelors or Associates Degree is preferred;  
  • Strong Preference for education from a maritime academy and/or a focus on maritime industry, engineering, or related field;  
  • Preference for business development, or a related field.   

Experience:   

  • Experience in project administration with public or private construction projects;  
  • Familiarity with using Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and AutoCAD in a work setting;  
  • Knowledge of vessels, maritime commerce and trades, ports, and general business administration.  
  • Knowledge of New Bedford and/or the New Bedford Marine Commerce Terminal project a plus.   

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:   

  • Interest and knowledge of maritime industry and vessels, clean energy, and offshore wind;  
  • Demonstrated aptitude for understanding complex and new products, systems, innovations and business concepts as well as their accompanying market opportunities and challenges;  
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze both technical and non-technical information to discern trends and strategies;  
  • Ability to perform physical tasks;  
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;  
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.   

Requirements   

  • The Terminal is subject to the port security regulations set forth by the Transportation Security Administration and United States Coast Guard. Employment at the Terminal is contingent upon obtaining state specific licenses and/or a Transportation Worker Identification Credential.
