Provide “cradle to cradle” energy and durability consulting from conceptual design, through construction and commissioning services, and throughout building lifespan operations.

Responsibilities Include:

Apply building science principles in evaluation of building systems through:

  • On-Site Inspections,
  • Forensic Diagnostics and Testing,
  • Design Review, and
  • Energy Modelling.

Assist with project management.

  • Participate in project meetings
  • Manage tasks to budget
  • Client communications

Support day-to-day operations of the business

Typical Projects Include:

Building Commissioning:

  • Commissioning (Cx) for new construction and renovation
  • Retro-Commissioning (RCx)
  • Operations and Maintenance Guidance

High Performance Building Design Support:

  • Zero Net Energy (ZNE)
  • Passive House  (PHIUS)
  • Project-Specific Performance Goals
  • Energy Modeling (WUFI Passive, eQUEST, spreadsheet models)

Performance Facility Conditions Assessments

Building Diagnostics

  • Mechanical System Failure
  • IAQ Issues
  • Comfort Complaints
  • Moisture/Microbial Issues

Minimum Requirements, Skills and Qualities:

  • BS in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering or Construction-related field.
  • Technical knowledge of HVAC and building enclosure systems.
  • Proficient communication and organization skills are necessary to conduct meetings, coordinate schedules, and prepare reports.
  • Demonstrated desire to develop advanced knowledge, skills, and abilities for a career in the building performance industry.
  • Ability to travel part of the time.
  • Ability to prioritize and follow-through.
  • Technical proficiency in energy modeling and data analysis. 
  • The selected candidate must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must have access to reliable transportation and clean driving license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands on systems commissioning experience for facilities construction projects
  • Credentialed Professional, e.g., Certified Energy Manager (CEM®), Certified Commissioning Professional (CCP), Certified Passive House Consultant (CPHC®), Home Energy Rating System (HERS®)
