BuildingLogic Inc. based in New Paltz, Ulster County NY, is looking to hire a full-time Lead Carpenter/Site Supervisor. Wage range for this position is $28-­37+/hour dependent upon experience and tool collection and includes paid holidays and sick days, an annual tool allowance, performance bonus, and workshops and conferences to advance your skills.

BuildingLogic is a small but growing Design/Build firm specializing in “green” residential construction and renovation that incorporates high performance building design, sustainable materials, low energy use or Zero-­Net Energy, or Passive House standards. Our projects include a mix of custom high-­‐end and affordable homes requiring attention to detail and cost-­effectiveness. Please have a minimum of 10 years experience and excellent frame to finish carpentry skills. We are looking for someone knowledgeable in high performance building or who wants to learn about new ways of building that go beyond satisfying the basic building code. Please be open to new ideas, a hard worker, collaborative and willing to go the extra mile to deliver our high level of quality. Our ideal candidate has working knowledge of exterior insulation, rain-­screens, double-stud or Larsen Truss framing, air sealing, moisture management and the building science that motivates us to build this way.

Required Skills and Experience:
Handling all aspects of running the job site in conjunction with the production team and Project Manager while supporting a positive work environment.
Excellent carpentry skills with authentic hands on experience on a wide variety of projects.
Have a strong ability to process information quickly and accurately.
Technical competence in reading and interpreting plans and specifications, material takeoffs and ordering.
The ability to self-­direct or follow with a positive attitude and can-­do spirit whatever the task. Recognize when mistakes are made and fix them.
The ability to organize work to meet deadlines and prioritize competing tasks.
Assigning responsibilities and tasks to your team and keeping all staff and sub-­‐ contractors working optimally and efficiently. Leading and motivating your team to meet the production schedule without sacrificing quality.
Assisting PM with estimating and proper planning for materials with long lead times, anticipating issues, maintaining project schedule and tracking project budget.

Informing the PM of the progress of the project, including any customer concerns, problems, delays, etc. on a daily basis.
Knowing when to make judgment calls and when to consult the PM.
Communicating thoughtfully, effectively and consistently with co-­workers, subs and clients.
Ability to maintain a highly organized and safe job site and tool trailer. Ensuring tool performance and maintenance.

In addition, successful Lead Carpenter/Site Supervisor candidates will be comfortable with current information technology used on job sites including web-­based project management systems, consistent and timely electronic communications, and accurate record keeping.
They will be continually increasing their knowledge on their own and by attending workshops, seminars and tradeshows with financial assistance from the Company.
