Job Description:
Building Evolution Corporation (BEC) is seeking an entry-level Building Performance Consultant who is passionate about high-performance buildings to join our expanding team.
The Building Performance Consultant is an important asset to the team, with existing technical knowledge, strong analytical skills, and a proven desire for continuing professional growth. As part of the team, they will advance their knowledge in building science principles, develop hands-on diagnostics testing skills, participate in business development, and eventually manage projects.
Responsibilities Include:
- Technical design review of Mechanical and Enclosure system design.
- Energy modelling and data analysis, including WUFI and THERM for Passive House (Phius) certification.
- On-site assessments and investigations involving visual observation and diagnostic testing of building performance issues, enclosure/mechanical system failures.
- Prepare reports outlining issues and recommendations for client review.
- Manage tasks and projects to budget.
- Communicate with clients and participate in project meetings.

- Building Commissioning
- Commissioning (Cx) for new construction and renovation
- Retro-Commissioning (RCx)
- Operations and Maintenance Guidance
- High Performance Building Design Support
- Zero Net Energy (ZNE)
- Passive House (Phius) Certification
- Project-Specific Performance Goals (electrification, low-carbon buildings, healthy buildings, etc.)
- Performance Facility Conditions Assessments
- Building Diagnostics
- Mechanical System Failure
- IAQ Issues
- Comfort Complaints
- Moisture/Microbial Issues
Minimum Requirements, Skills, and Qualities:
- Completion of BS in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering or Construction-related field by summer of 2023.
- Technical knowledge of HVAC and building enclosure systems.
- Technical proficiency in energy modelling, data analysis, and CAD programs.
- Demonstrated desire to develop advanced knowledge, skills, and abilities for a career in the building performance industry.
- Proficient communication and organization skills necessary to conduct meetings, coordinate schedules, and prepare reports.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Ability to travel part of the time.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Hands on systems commissioning experience for facilities construction projects.
- Experience in WUFI and/or THERM.
- Experience in AutoCAD, REVIT, and/or SketchUp.
- Demonstrated knowledge of sustainable building practices.
- Access to reliable transportation and a clean driving license.
Work/Site Location:
- Work to be performed primarily within the Worcester office (3-5 days/week).
- Same-day local travel to client sites (0-2 days/week).
- Very occasional out of state overnight travel may be expected.
