Working closely with the Project Management Team, the Construction Supervisor is responsible for all site related tasks, coordination, and management of a commercial construction project.

The Construction Supervisor’s responsibilities include (but are not limited to) directing the work of other employees and subcontractors on jobsites, as well as providing mentorship, training, and professional development to Chapman’s staff. The Construction Supervisor will make key contributions to Chapman’s success on many important levels: running safe and profitable projects, building our staff for the future, and representing Chapman’s brand to our clients and partners.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Coordinate all daily jobsite operations
  • Maintain project schedules while working with project teams to ensure timely execution
  • Ensure Chapman’s building standards and sustainable construction practices are always maintained
  • Facilitate quality results while providing the highest level of customer service
  • Represent Chapman in a courteous and profession manner with owners, architects, vendors, and subcontractors
  • Mentor less experienced team members to ensure appropriate professional development
  • Understand construction blueprints and documents
  • Maintain and organize documentation including submittals, RFIs, SKs, and Addendums
  • Follow and enforce Chapman safety policies and procedures
  • Estimate height, width, length and other proportions
  • Use levels, rules, framing squares and laser equipment to ensure dimensional integrity
  • Work with materials such as wood, plastic, fiberglass, and drywall
  • Utilize hand and power tools
  • Join materials with nails, screws, staples, and adhesives
  • Install interior finishes as needed
  • Perform other functions as required

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Possesses a minimum of five years’ experience in the construction industry
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Demonstrated efforts towards continued development and growth in the industry, continuing education, coursework and seminars
  • Participates in mandatory company-sponsored training programs and monthly meetings
  • Possesses a valid driver’s license.
  • Basic understanding of construction plans and specifications
  • Completes an Adult CPR/First Aid Certification within one year of employment
  • Completes a 30-hour OSHA training course within one year of employment
  • Sound knowledge of building codes and construction safety regulations
  • Excellent understanding of building methods and materials
  • Working knowledge of construction tools and equipment
  • The ability to interpret blueprints
  • Familiar with personal computers and basic computer programs

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Massachusetts CSL is not required but highly encouraged
  • Familiarity with Procore Construction Management software is a plus

  • While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and smell.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up 75 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of the job, the employee frequently works in precarious places and may be in outside weather conditions, and exposed to the risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to dust, paint fumes, odors, mold, wet and/or humid conditions, toxic and caustic chemicals, extreme cold, and extreme heat.
  • Occasionally required to sweep floors, pick up trash, empty barrels and hampers, unload delivery trucks, manually move material, dig holes or trenches and perform select demolition tasks.
  • Willing to travel up to +/- 60 miles each way from home to project sites.
