Sustainable Comfort, Inc., a green building and energy efficiency consulting firm, is seeking an Energy Rater in Albany, NY. This is an ideal role for individuals looking to start their green building careers. You’ll perform field testing and energy performance evaluations, working on impactful multifamily projects that drive sustainability. ** Candidates must be based in the Albany, NY area, as regular weekly site visits are required.

Essential Duties

• Conduct progress inspections and performance testing at multifamily housing construction sites.
• Work with green building programs such as Energy Star, LEED for Homes, Enterprise Green Communities, and Passive House.
• Communicate program guidelines, requirements, and desired outcomes to clients and contractors.
• Prepare energy models for multifamily apartment units to estimate energy use, guide decision making, and issue certifications.
• Work with architects and developers to develop building plans with an eye for sustainability to meet various energy efficiency and green building programs.
• Successfully complete the SCI Green Building Training Program.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree, Associates degree in construction management or related discipline, or five (5) years of experience in the building trades.
• Skills: Prior experience in building construction preferred.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Authorization to work in the United States.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check.
